Only artworks registered by the submission deadline can be sold in the Print shop. The maximum print size accepted for the Printshop is <strong>A2 (420 x 594 mm)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I submit a framed or mounted print?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prints can be sold unmounted or mounted only with a passe-partout \u2013 this must be indicated via the registration form. <strong>We do not accept prints that are framed<\/strong> <strong>or otherwise mounted<\/strong> (e.g. diasec or aluminium). If you wish to submit framed or larger works for sale, please see our other sales events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is there a fee for participating in the Printshop?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participation in the Print shop is a new member benefit and it is included in your annual membership fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a 35% sales commission on each print sold. The commission fee is calculated based on the price of the work excluding VAT. When registering, please indicate whether you are liable for VAT, and include applicable business ID. The prices of the artworks should include any applicable VAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is there a selection process for the prints submitted?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no selection process for the Print shop 26\/27. All artworks that abide by the guidelines laid out in the registration instructions are accepted into the event. We do not tolerate discrimination and any work containing discriminatory content may be withdrawn at our discretion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How should I document my print for the website?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prints should be documented with a clear, high resolution image for use on the website and accompanying marketing purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Include any margins or passe-partouts the image may have. If you provide a documentation image of the physical print, please crop out any background from the image and ensure the lighting is even.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember, the image will be used to sell the artwork and it is important to showcase the work in the best way possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How should I pack my print for posting?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prints should be carefully packed for posting. This includes placing the print on a thick, <strong>protective backing board, and wrapping it in cellophane.<\/strong> We recommend that the print is first wrapped in acid-free paper and then sealed with cellophane to prevent any moisture from reaching the print. Place the wrapped print in a cardboard envelope and attach the prepaid postage sticker provided by the association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What else should I include with the print?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please include a signed certificate of authenticity for each print sold. We recommend that you attach it to the back of the print or place it in a plastic pocket before placing it in the parcel. You can also include a contact card or thank you note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens if I am unable to dispatch a sold print?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prints for sale in the Printshop should be readily available (i.e. that they are already printed). However, due to the ongoing sales period, we understand that a print might not be immediately available for dispatch. If this is the case, please communicate this to us as soon as you receive a notification of sale. If we do not hear from you within five working days of the notification of sale, we reserve the right to cancel the purchase.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a print is completely sold out, please email us as soon as possible so that we can amend its availability on the online shop.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where will my print(s) be displayed and sold?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prints will be displayed and sold primarily via the association\u2019s Online Shop. The prints will be listed online and available for sale from November 2026 until November 2027. If a print is sold out, it will be indicated as being sold out on the online shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We promote the Printshop onsite at Photographic Gallery Hippolyte. We will contact individuals to request the possibility of a small number of prints being displayed in the bookshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How will my artwork images and information be used?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The images submitted via the registration form will be displayed on the online shop. We also reserve the right to use the images for promotional purposes e.g. on our social media channels and physical posters. All images used beyond the sales pages will be credited with the artist\u2019s name and artwork title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information like artist bio and artwork description will be displayed alongside your artwork in the online shop. We will also use this information to draft texts for marketing the works and the Printshop platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How often will you have an open call for the Print shop?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the Print shop\u2019s inaugural year, but we hope to carry out an annual open call to renew the shop\u2019s stock each autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I would like to participate in the association\u2019s other sales events. Is it possible to participate in both the Print shop and those?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, it is possible to participate in both the Printshop and other sales events. The intention behind the Print shop is to provide a year-round sales opportunity for our members and to showcase photographic art to buyers for a longer period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if I have specific care or framing instructions for my artwork?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are welcome to enclose printed information about how to care for an artwork when sending it to a buyer. Please note, the buyer is not under any obligation to frame the artwork in a specific way (e.g. specific frame colour or glass) once purchased. If you wish for the work to be framed in a particular way, please submit it as a framed artwork to our other sales events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is an edition and how should I edition my prints?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a printed edition, the artist informs the buyer of the number of artwork prints that exist or will be produced. The number of editions \u2013 i.e. how many prints the artist makes of each artwork \u2013 is up to the artist to decide. Common editions are 3, 5, 8 or 10, but an edition can also be 100 or unlimited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There can be different size options for the same artwork; usually, for example, 2-3. The size of the edition may also affect the price of the works and the last copies of the edition may be more expensive. The artist can make prints for their own use. These prints are marked as artist proofs with the letters AP (Artist Proof), which the artist can use for exhibitions, for example, when the other copies of the edition have been sold. Editions are marked with sequential numbers: for example, 1\/5 + 2AP means the first edition of a series of five editions, and 2\/5 + 2 AP means the second edition of a series of five editions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If an artist produces prints of the same artwork in different sizes, colours, or with different printing techniques, these must be marked as their own editions. In general, it is best practice if possible variants of the same work were known already when the first work was sold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What VAT?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Value added tax is a tax that is paid on nearly every sold good. You are liable to register to pay VAT on your art if your yearly sales exceed \u20ac 20 000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Art has a deducted VAT rate but photographic art \u2013 due to its reproducibility \u2013 has varying VAT rate that depends on the edition size of the work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unique works and editions up to 30: 13,5 %<br>Unlimited editions or editions exceeding 30: 25,5%<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read more on VAT on Finnish Art Associations website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artists.fi\/fi\/kuvataiteilijan-arvonlisavero-ohje\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.artists.fi\/fi\/kuvataiteilijan-arvonlisavero-ohje\">here<\/a> (in Finnish).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation donation and who pays for it?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The association continues its well-received collaboration with the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can choose to collaborate with as many artworks as you like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By opting-in, you, the artist, donate \u20ac5 of the sales proceeds of your participating artwork to the foundation.
