About the artist
Milja Laurila (b. 1982, Helsinki) is a visual artist and writer who holds a Master’s degree in Photography from Aalto University (2010) and a Master’s degree in Writing from the University of the Arts Helsinki (2025). Her work navigates the intersections of image, text, and memory. In recent years, Laurila’s work has been exhibited in Finland at venues such as the National Library, Valokuvagalleria Hippolyte, and Taidehalli, as well as internationally at Paris Photo, the Brooklyn Museum in New York, and LACMA in Los Angeles. Her works are included in collections such as the Finnish Museum of Photography and the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art.
