Jussi Hellsten: A Small Monument of Harju

“Harjun pieni monumentti” (A Small Monument of Harju) is, true to its name, a small–yet–significant work about the red brick building rising next to Dallapé Park in Vallila, Helsinki.

Its layered history — from mortuary to youth centre — is examined as a paused moment through photographs, alongside an essay by art historian Riitta Nikula, shedding light on the building’s past and cultural significance.
