The work is part of the series Herbarium of Emotions / Tunteiden kasvio (2016), which explores the emotions evoked by death and loss through still-life arrangements. The series consists of photographs and object installations that depict flowers and plants, altered and reassembled in various ways.
About the artist
Kaisa Karhu (b. 1984, Jyväskylä) is a Helsinki-based photographic artist whose practice combines performative actions with photography. Through a personal approach, Karhu explores themes of femininity, landscape, and the subordinate history of women as image-makers of nature. Her previous solo exhibitions include Galleria Rajatila in Tampere (2022) and Photographic Gallery Hippolyte in Helsinki (2021). Karhu graduated with a Master of Arts in Photography from the Aalto University in 2017, and her works are included in, among others, the Finnish State Art Collection.
