About the artist
Maria Rannanheimo works with photography and moving image, exploring directions that extend beyond these media. She is interested in the interaction between humans and their environments, different dimensions of reality, possibilities of being, their overlaps and tensions, and experiences of connection. Intuition, immersion, and a magical-realist approach to documentary are present in her practice, where representational and abstract elements often intertwine.
