Tekla Inari: The Darkness of a Photograph
This collage-like essay approaches the topics of contemporary society, the unconscious in photography, the formulation of trauma art, and the production of photo books. Individual paragraphs criss-cross and create webs between each other, forming a connected constellation of mental patterns. At the core of this conglomeration there lies the depth or darkness beneath the immediate visual surface of a photograph; a space where the author imagines that all the shadows of human society also reside. Through the artist’s unique creative effort, a work of art preserves a variety of collective experiential and emotional nuances. At the same time, this personal and visionary poetic essay views contemporary photography through the lenses of anticapitalism and psychoanalysis.
