From the photographic series Irti (2006-2009). In the photographic series Breaking Away from the Ordinary (2006), artist Ulla-Mari Lindström observes everyday life and its absurdity. The camera is an excellent tool for selecting and emphasising those strange, surreal and humorous moments that occur in daily life.

About the artist
Ulla-Mari Lindström is a photographic and media artist whose practice moves between photography, video, painting, and installations made from natural materials. Her works often draw from small everyday events, accidents, and experiments, which through the process of working open up into new connections and meanings. Lindström studied photography and painting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the University of Art and Design Helsinki.
